World Telecom Day is observed on 17 May each year. In the modern era, phones, mobile and internet have become the first needs of the people. It has been very difficult to imagine life without it. Today it has penetrated from the individual's personal life to the professional life. Previously, people had to struggle a lot to get in touch with anyone, today mobile and internet has made it very easy. A person can easily contact friends, family and relatives in a few seconds. This is the revolution of telecommunications, due to which some developing countries like India are also counted in some countries of the world, whose economy is growing rapidly.

The tradition of celebrating 'World Telecommunication Day' started on 17 May 1865, but in modern times it started in 1969. Since then, it has been celebrated with joy all over the world. In addition to this, it was decided in November 2006 at Purnadhikari Conference held in Turkey that 'World Telecom' and 'Information' and 'Society Day' should be celebrated together.


At present, a large part of telecommunications is internet. There is no doubt that people who have access to the Internet have seen a big change in their lives. The Internet has made his life much easier. Through this, we get innumerable information in just a few seconds in a blink of an eye. The Internet has become important not only for information, but also from social networking to stock exchange, banking, e-shopping etc. If someone wants to give the most credit for this, then search engines like Google deserve it. Thousands of kilometers away from Google's email, chatting, video and voice chatting etc. have now been reduced to a few seconds.

विश्व दूरसंचार दिवस प्रत्येक वर्ष ' 17 मई को मनाया जाता है । आधुनिक युग में फोन , मोबाइल और इंटरनेट लोगों की प्रथम आवश्यकता बन गये हैं । इसके बिना जीवन की कल्पना करना बहुत ही मुश्किल हो चुका है । आज यह इंसान के व्यक्तिगत जीवन से लेकर व्यावसायिक जीवन में पूरी तक प्रवेश कर चुका है । पहले जहाँ किसी से संपर्क साधने के लिए लोगों को काफ़ी मशक्कत करनी पड़ती थी , वहीं आज मोबाइल और इंटरनेट ने इसे बहुत ही आसान बना दिया है । व्यक्ति कुछ ही सेकेंड में बेहद असानी से दोस्तों , परिवार और सगे संबधियों से संपर्क साध सकता है । यह दूरसंचार की क्रांति है , जिसकी बदौलत भारत जैसे कुछ विकासशील देशों की गिनती भी विश्व के कुछ ऐसे देशों में होती है , जिनकी अर्थव्यवस्था तेज़ी से रफ्तार पकड़ रही है ।

'विश्व दूरसंचार दिवस ' मनाने की परंपरा 17 मई , 1865 में शुरू हुई थी , लेकिन आधुनिक समय में इसकी शुरुआत 1969 में हुई । तभी से पूरे विश्व में इसे हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया जाता है । इसके साथ नवम्बर , 2006 में टर्की में आयोजित पूर्णाधिकारी कांफ्रेंस में यह भी निर्णय लिया गया था कि ' विश्व दूरसंचार ' एवं ' सूचना ' एवं ' सोसाइटी दिवस ' , तीनों को एक साथ मनाया जाए ।

वर्तमान समय में दूरसंचार का एक बहुत बड़ा हिस्सा इंटरनेट है । इसमें कोई शक नहीं है कि जिन लोगों की पहुंच इंटरनेट तक है , उनके जीवन में एक बड़ा बदलाव देखने को मिला है । इंटरनेट ने उनके जीवन को काफ़ी सरल बना दिया है । इसके जरिए हम असंख्य सूचनाओं को पलक झपकते ही मात्र कुछ चंद सेकेंड में प्राप्त कर लेते हैं । इंटरनेट सिर्फ सूचनाओं के लिहाज से ही नहीं , बल्कि सोशल नेटवर्किग से लेकर स्टॉक एक्सचेंज , बैंकिंग , ई - शॉपिंग आदि के लिए अब अहम बन चुका है । इसके लिए यदि किसी को सबसे अधिक श्रेय देना चाहेंगे तो गूगल जैसे सर्च इंजन इसके हकदार हैं । गूगल के ई - मेल , चैटिंग , वीडियो और वॉयस चैटिंग आदि से हजारों किलोमीटर की दूरियां सिमट कर अब चंद सेकेंड के फासले में बदल गयी हैं ।
